On a bright and sunny August Bank Holiday afternoon, we held our annual competition to win the President’s Shield. This year was particularly special as Ruby Funerals, who last year sponsored our new club scoreboards, have now sponsored a replacement President's Shield which had run out of space. So after the competition had ended, President Trevor introduced the two representatives from Ruby Funerals, Katie and Darcy, and thanked them for their generosity.

Before the competition started, a “spider” was held (not literally!) and the winner of that was Neil Roderick. And then the game began – three sets of six ends each – playing with and against a different team each set. Great fun I think was had by all! The winner was Martin Ellis who was duly presented with the Shield by Katie and Darcy, the consolation prize was awarded to Anne Broom.

A thank you must go to our Competition Secretary, Graham Hillier who organised the day.
